The town was founded in the fourth century BC as a Greek settlement for trading with the local Dacian tribes and was named Aksiopolis. Its present name originates from Bulgarian language.
According to the Bucharest Peace Treaty and the Berlin Protocol, the town became part of the Bulgarian territory but with the Treaty of Neuilly it was returned to Romania.
Between 1890 and 1895, the bridge Angel Sallini, linking Cernavoda and Fetesht, was built near the town. When it was completed the bridge became the longest one in Europe and the third longest in the world (total length 4037 meters, of which 1662 meters above the river Danube and 920 meters above Borcha). In 1860 a railway line connecting Cernavoda and Constantsa was built.
The town is an important port on the river Danube and not far from it is the beginning of the canal the Danube- the Black Sea.
In Cernavoda was built the first Romanian Nuclear Power Plant - "Black Water", which provides 18% of the electricity of Romania.
Some of the main attractions of the town include the Orthodox Church of St. Apostol Andrey, the Catholic Church and the Archaeological Museum. Cernavoda is twinned with the Bulgarian town of Dobrich.

Moyerusa is a Spanish municipality in the province of Lerida and the capital of the region Plana de Urhel. The municipality is located in the interior of Catalonia, 23 km east of the provincial capital. Moyerusa is a town with agrarian and industrial economy based on the production and processing of cereal, pasta, flour, pork.
The traditional core of the city retains the structure of the old settlement, with the main square in the center, where famous landmarks can been seen , like the small Chapel of St. Isidore from the 16 century and the church, built by Isidro Puig Boadilla in 1950, with its high external bell tower.
The modern land was initially limited by the railway Lerida-Barcelona and by the cannel Urhel but the growth of the population has taken it outside these limits. Because of the population growth, urban expansion, industrial and commercial development, agricultural wealth and the important geographical position in 1975 Moyerusa became town pursuant to the Royal Decree of 24 April 1082.
A famous landmark of Moyerusa is the Museum of the paper dresses, and some of the events organized in the municipality include traditional carnival, national competition for paper dresses, the feast of St. John and others.
